One Week Down

I just finished Day 7 of the 30 day challenge I posted last week. The first day I started, the 100 jumping jacks just about did me in. By the time I got to the running, the best I could do was about an 8:45ish mile speed. (I'm usually running at a 7:30 or better mile speed when I just run.) Today, I was able to speed through the jumping jacks with no problem, in fact, I was thinking about adding another set to my work out, so doing 200 jumping jacks, 190 crunches, 180 squats, 170 leg lifts...you get the idea. However, I decided to stick with what I have been doing for the 30 days and see where it gets me.
I have added bicep curls with 3lbs weights to my squats, and I will probably go up to 5 lbs around day 15 or so. I also increased my run to make sure I get in 2 miles, which is about a 16-17 minute run right now.
I am really enjoying the work out, and I hope you are too! Let me know if you've been participating and how it's going for you!

30 day challenge

This is my workout for the next 30 days. Who's with me? The total work out takes about 25 minutes, but it's a full body workout. Also, I added light dumbbell curls to my squats. Today was my first day, so I did 3 lbs weights in each hand. Maybe in a week or so I'll go up to 5. We'll see. The jumping jacks really got me winded today. Hoping by day 30 to fly through them.

Let me know if you'll be doing the challenge as well. I'm not asking you to cut out any food (at this point), just commit 25 minutes for 30 days!!!

There's never a tomorrow

I have a lot of friends and family who talk about wanting to get healthy, get in shape, make good decisions, but it's always, "I'll start tomorrow." What I have learned is that there isn't a tomorrow, there is only right now. So, as you sit there watching the infomercial on P90X while the box of DVDs is sitting on your entertainment center, don't say, "I'll start tomorrow." Get up and start now.
My parents have a treadmill in their basement, and I can't believe how many times I have sat around and wasted 2 straight hours on the computer or tv when I could have taken a 1/4 of that time and gotten in a good workout. It's a little ridiculous.
So - no more tomorrow. If I make a bad choice by eating some of Charis's halloween candy, I'll make it a responsible choice by not eating more later, and I'll stop after 1 piece! No more of this, well, I've already blown it today, might as well eat a tub of ice cream.
Who's with me???

Help someone else enjoy Christmas while you shop

Today, I was painting my nails with a beautiful red nail polish from Mary Kay, and the thought occurred to me, why not do my Christmas shopping with my friends who are in direct sales.
Many of us go to department stores, walmart, and target to do most of our holiday shopping, but just look at this list:
  • You have a person who loves Kitchen items: Pampered Chef with Leah Scott
  • What about the cook in your life: Tastefully Simple with Bethany Greer
  • Cosmetics, lotions, skin care: Mary Kay of course!!! Janna Antenorcruz (in the KC area) or Maureen Shuler (in the Florence area)
  • Candle lovers- have them try something new with Scentsy: Amanda Raniszewski
  • Home decor - Willow Tree with Dyan Coker
  • Jewelry - SO MANY to choose from - I have two friends that sell Premier - Pam Westbrooks and Mary Caldwell. Park Lane Jewelry with Beth Weaver
  • Hair Bows with Ania Hale
  • Adorable kids clothes and accessories - The Blue Swirl and my friend, Chelsea!
  • And of course, for any of your tote, purse, or organizational needs, you can contact me with Thirty One.
AND!!! Most of these companies have stuff for MEN too!
Now, why is this important???? All these ladies listed above only get paid when you shop with them, SO you are helping THEM have more income to shop for their families and friends. The workers at Target, Walmart, and department stores will get paid regardless of whether or not you spend $100 there.
I'm sure you have a list of people who you personally know that work for one of these direct sales companies, and they would love to help you pick out the best gift for your family and friends. If you don't, all these ladies are in my friends list on Facebook!
